Homelands

A crime against our humanity is the way the Native Title process has been manipulated to further dispossess First Nations. Parliamentary legislation and 'Native Title specialist lawyers' are in lockstep with the colonial power to rob Aboriginal people of their inherent rights and responsibilities to uphold the oldest continuing living culture on the planet. Here on this island continent, now known as Australia, those wielding colonial power continue to promote Native Title in positive terms, well aided by the mainstream media, but the reality is a treacherous story of theft by trickery.

In the April issue of Land Rights News I celebrated the 30th anniversary of the progressive and supportive Blanchard report 'Return to Country': the Aboriginal Homelands Movement in Australia. And I wondered what celebration or reproach the 10th anniversary of the Northern Territory National Emergency Response, the Intervention that was militaristically launched with extraordinary media fanfare on 21 June 2007 might elicit.

The answers to this question are threefold.

Unfortunately a Facebook administrator and a handful of people are using a standard strategy to divide and conquer. This is in opposition to the purpose of the Aboriginal Embassy, which is to unite our people through a common cause. There are a few who are using this platform to pursue the agenda to character assassinate me personally, and to discredit the core purpose of the Sovereign Union. - - Ghillar, Michael Anderson, Sovereign Union Convenor, counters the most recent defaming detractors ...     

It appears that the forces in opposition to the Sovereign Union are providing information to detractors, who choose to make a mockery of our liberation movement to free ourselves from the tyranny and subjugation by the colonialists representing the Crown of Britain. Assimilation into the Constitution from Britain will only serve to undermine our sovereign status and thereby provide the Commonwealth of Australia government with a constitutional head of power that would take away all of our cultural, spiritual, human rights, not to mention sealing the deal of the theft of our lands, waters and natural resources.

"Members from First Nations across the continent successfully participated in the Coalition for Community Energy held in Melbourne Town Hall on 27 - 28 February 2017 and took the initiative to form the First Nations Renewable Energy Alliance to partner with private enterprise and other community energy alliances to support First Nations communities across Australia to transition to renewable energy. "This Alliance initiative is directed at ensuring remote and isolated communities are sufficiently catered for in respect to their energy needs ... "

There is a grave concern that the national parliament will accept the bleeting of the racist fear mongers who run immediately to the king of racism, George Brandis, Attorney-General, to amend the Native Title Act. The Commonwealth government is now desperate to overturn the recent decision of the full bench of the Federal Court in the McGlade v Native Title Registrar case, which puts the validity of many ILUAs in doubt as not all 'named applicants’ who needed to sign an ILUA did so.

The Australian Government presents to its own citizens and to the United Nations, that the land purchased by the ILC (Indigenous Land Corporation) would belong to the “Indigenous Estate”, what implied that this land bought by taxpayers’ money is actually owned by Aboriginal People, when in fact the government continues to own the land. “The Indigenous Land Corporation assists Indigenous Australians to acquire land and to manage Aboriginal held land so as to provide economic, environmental, social or cultural benefits.” states the official website of the Australian Government.

This is an appeal for everyone in this country: supporters, unions, church groups and all people who believe in freedom and justice to attend the May Day National Day of Protest in your state. This is our right. This is Australia's autumn revolution. Let's make it a million man, woman and child march. This is our future. I write this letter as a matter of urgency. Despite a national day of protest across the whole of the Australian continent on 19 March 2015 against the forced closures of Aboriginal homeland communities, the state governments have arrogantly ignored our protests and continue unabated. The mainstream media media in Australia are blacking out any attention as if the forced closures are not happening. This is a cry for help as our communities do not have the resources to stave off the Australian assault on Aboriginal Peoples and their lands.

The momentum is building for the global day of action on Thursday 19 March 2015 against the forced closure of homeland communities. Protests and marches are being held across Australia at: Roebourne, Fitzroy Crossing, Halls Creek, Derby, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, One Arm Point, Beagle Bay, Port Hedland, Perth, Bellingen, Lismore, Canberra, Nigel Scullion's office in Alice Springs,Yarrabah, Adelaide, Sydney, Redfern Tent Embassy, Bendigo, Melbourne, Launceston and a virtual protest.
