The grassroots complaints on the Referendum Council Convention processes

Body

Video Gallery (with descriptions): The political confrontation that occurred at the National Convention was caused by the very apparent stacking of the meeting by the organisers (Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Studies, AIATSIS), no doubt supported by the Referendum Council with a budget of over $800 million.
What was visually clear during the whole process was the apparent divide between members of the Referendum Council.

Corporate Welfare over Aboriginal Rights and Responsibilities to Country

Labor and the government have come to a "settled position" which will deliver native title law changes through federal parliament next week. The bill, slated to be debated in the Senate on Tuesday, is aimed at resolving legal uncertainty around more than 120 indigenous land use agreements relating to major projects, including Queensland's Carmichael mine proposed by Indian resources giant Adani. The bill expected to pass parliament next week reverts the system to the pre- McGlade status quo.

Ghillar, Michael Anderson

Ghillar, Michael Anderson, the convenor of Sovereign Union has made a statement to put into some perspective the attacks on the Sovereign Union and the personal attacks he has been subjected to with increasing frequency in recent weeks, many being on several Facebook pages. ... This suggests that the road is being cleared of opposition to the Referendum Council's objectives to coerce First Nations into the illegal colonial constitution so that the sovereignty movement becomes ineffective. A question is are the detractors being manipulated by opposition forces, the hidden hand!

Murrawarri Nations’ analysis of the ULURU STATEMENT FROM THE HEART (The Uluru Statement)

Murrawarri Republic Media Release

MEDIA RELEASE: The Murrawarri Nation agree in principal with the Uluru Statement, however we have some major reservations and concerns with the approach the Referendum Council is suggesting as a road map to achieve a TREATY between First Nations and the Crown represented by her Ministers and her Governor General”. The Murrawarri Nation believe the suggested process is wrong and it needs to be changed from a Reform and Recognition process leading to a Treaty to an Agreement Making Process I.E. Treaty, then Constitutional Reform and Recognition.

Perfecting Trickery: The Referendum Council

That word treaty

On his return from Uluru, Ghillar, Michael Anderson details the rigged processes of the Referendum Council's National Convention and the subsequent media: 'I was absolutely shocked and horrified at the disjointed discussion that occurred on ABC TV Q&A last night ( 29 May 2017). In my opinion the conclusions that occurred at the Referendum Council's National Convention at Yulara, Ayers Rock Resort, were totally betrayed by the Q&A panel. Having been permitted to sit as an observer in the main National Convention at Yulara near Uluru, I was privy to observe the proceedings and I sat through the 'Synthesis' of the Regional Dialogues and what they called the breakout workshops as well, where the key topics were 'The Voice', 'Treaty', 'Strategy'.

Murray George, Chairperson of APY Law and Culture

As Chairperson of APY Law and Culture, I have written to the Referendum Council to say the Tjilpis are insulted that the Referendum Council did not respect protocol and procedure before they called a meeting for discussion on having Anangu/Aboriginal people all over Australia included in Australia's Constitution. We, the Traditional Owners for Uluru and Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara country argue that our Law is the Law of the Land in this part of the world and not the whiteman law. We know we have been controlled by the whiteman law because we didn't have enough warriors and clever Lawmen who can take the fight up to these people who occupy our lands illegally.
